What We Know About the Universe (and What We Don’t Know)

TWOSE General Admission required (free for RASC members).

David is a renowned cosmologist whose work mapping the universe has been cited by over 10,000 other researchers! He is the past President of the American Astronomical Society and the Chair of the Department of Astronomy at Columbia University in New York.  Replete with colliding galaxies and a fly-through of the Universe set to the Blue Danube waltz, David’s lecture provides one-stop shopping for a comprehensive tour of all of space and time — or at least of the whole 4% we actually understand! This presentation is appropriate for anyone with an interest in the universe – no prior knowledge required.

More about David: David appeared weekly on the Discovery Channel’s program Science News, bringing the latest astronomical discoveries to the US television audience. More recently, his television appearances have been limited to more serious matters on Comedy Central’s The Daily Show and National Geographic’s The Known Universe. His first book, “A Survival Guide to the Misinformation Age” will appear in January.
