Learn about viewing the sky from a different perspective other than the traditional Roman-Greek Mythology. This presentation and sky tour will focus on traditional Ininew (Cree) constellations which are accompanied by mythologies, songs and teachings. The Atchak Sipi (river of spirits) will be central in this presentation. The River Of Spirits is one of the names the Cree have for the Milky Way. Ininew mythology regarding origins will be shared and participants will have the opportunity to hear about how “ah-tim“, the dog, came to the people, as well as other mythologies. Participants will also have the opportunity to participate in a “sacred smudge ceremony” using one of the four scared cleansing medicines.
