Anticipating extreme weather and road conditions on Saturday March 5, Winter Light’s Star Party moves from Elk Island National Park to Edmonton’s City Hall. Weather conditions predicted for Saturday were overcast and very cold, which would prevent star viewing activity and create a concern for public safety.
As a result, Star Party organizer Sherrilyn Jahrig and Winter Light director Pamela Anthony canceled the wilderness star viewing at Elk Island National Park, but indoor activities went ahead at City Hall.
The Star Party: Plan B event featured more than 20 RASC astronomers and presenters who provided a fascinating glimpse into their star knowledge, expertise and enthusiasm. The festival component also continued, with a variety of cultural activities and displays.
