Technology continues to advance the capabilities of the amateur astronomer, and as a result so has it progressed the concomitant of solar observing. We will discuss some of the methods from simple to complex for safely observing the Sun as well as the amazing variety of passband filters currently available to the amateur solar astronomer. We will then wade into a little greater detail about the Sun itself and some of the solar phenomenon and features of interest to the solar observer. If we have clear skies following our discussion, please join me for some Hydrogen-alpha and Ca II K solar observing. Hope to see you there!
